So ,as well all well know................
I have a little well BIG love for Swamp People on History Channel. My long time friend, that actually lives in Louisiana, is going to Bastrop, LA today to get me Troy Landry's autograph.
WooHoo!!!!
Can you even believe that?
Now, that's a true friend!
All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you, Margaret, and I love you, love you, love, you!!!
SMOOCH!!!!!!
This guy below, in this pic, is the man who is going to autograph a lil' sumpin' sumpin' for yours truly!
Check out, Troy~
He's just one cool cat!
I love how he sings everything, too.
My family now sings like Troy does, but around our house vs. how he sings in the swamp.
"Yi Yi Yi , yi, Yi Yi Yi"
(That's Troy singing in case you didn't know)
I am thinking that Troy's son, Jacob, is supposed to be there, too.
I would be doubly blessed by this occasion.
I just love this father son duo!
If I'm lucky maybe, Elizabeth the Queen on the swamp, will be there, too.....
She is one the one and only "Cajun Queen" in my books.
I just love her!
Are you all tired of me talking about my love of Swamp People, yet?
I didn't think you were so that's why I had to share my swamp love, yet, again today on this Friday blog post.
What's so funny about my love of the swamp is that I am NOTHING like Swamp People.
Where has this come from in me?
This has me baffled-
I love fancy everything.
I love boutiques.
I love girly living.
I love the color pink, diamonds, perfume, soft skin, makeup, swimming pools, silk, Vanity Fair magazine, The Royals, jewelry, fingernail polish, the smell of "new" in department stores, HGTV, I would love to have some meals cooked for my family by a personal chef with colorful salads and a main dish that tastes even better than they look, and I also openly dream of a family vacation home in the South of France while going to Paris on the weekends.
So, why do I have this obsession with the swamps and the people working in them, because I know this for sure..........
My pallet is and will never stray from beef, pork & chicken and that's really pushing it.
I have tried alligator several times and detest the taste.
My own family are heart and soul deer hunters and I don't even cook the venison nor do I eat it.
I do not hunt.
I love color in my wardrobe and not huge fan of camo.
I'm not a lover of the great outdoors.
(I love pretty flowers and plotted plants and porches)
I don't like to sweat.
I don't like muddy water.
Mosquitoes and bugs freak me out.
Critters terrify me.
I don't like to be dirty.
I don't like to smell.
But, with all of this being said.....
I am ridiculously drawn to everything the Swamp People/Cajuns have to offer and I can't get enough.
The answer to my own question I do believe is this.....
I am in love with cultures different than my own in any way.
Family is everything in this culture.
Tradition, tradition, tradition,
Watching people in their element while loving what they do is what life is supposed to be.
Passion, passion, passion.
Living off the swamp provides their income while they live off the land/swamp and utilize what they hunt in every way from the skins to the meat.
They love what they do, they are who they are, and they have so much pride.
They are so spiritual and connected to their ancestry.
Yes, that's what I love about Swamp People
So as Troy would say,
"Choot'em Choot'em"
~Enjoy your weekend~

Cosiderthelillies-LOL-I was banking on you to comment, because I knew you were a HUGE lover of Swamp People, too!!!-LOL!!! What is up with us?
You and I are so simular in how girly girl-ish we are, yet, both of us are in love with this show/people/culture-Aren't we some funny fancy ladies??? LOL!!
I also love at the end of each episode how Troy says this,
"Shop at Swampshop.com" (It's his accent that makes that sentence sound so uber cool-HA!)
NEWSFLASH!!!!!
My friend, Margaret who lives in Louisiana, just called me and said she is waiting in line at a sporting goods store waiting to get Troy & Jacob Landry's autograph from "Swamp People" for me, right now, folks!!!!-WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!
I hope you were able to get your autograph. Troy was here before he went to Bastrop (1 hr away), and my friends stood in the 105* heat for 1 1/2 hrs and never got in to see him!
They were able to get photos of him from a distance and get photos taken with some of his prize gators!
Do you have a Choot'em hat yet? Lots of folks around here are wearing them!
Nope, Tina, I don't have a "choot'em" hat as of yet.......but am hoping to get some fab gator clothes-HA!
I just can't imagine standing in line so long in that heat and still not getting an autograph-that has to be so very frustrating. Now, I have heard twice that it has happened-darnit, the luck....
Nope didn't get the autograph, but gave her a "A" for effort.
