7 Things about me -I'm sure you didn't know

Okay, well, I've been wanting to do one of these thing-a-ma-jiggers for awhile and then I opened up my Blogger Dashboard and saw that Chinamommy did one today and I thought, "here's my sign."

It's just simply called,

"7 things about me"

So here I go.

Wish me luck-(wink)

I was intrigued when The Cosby Show debuted and was drawn to Lisa Bonet aka Denise Huxtable.  You know how she was the crazy, artsy, way out there, fashionista that would wear something totally different than everyone else and looked fabulous doing it. I totally got her! I couldn't wait for each thursday to roll around just to see what she was wearing.

I felt our connection.

I mean just look at her here with all of her sloppy, yet, pulled together jacket and tee combo uniting it with the jewelry.

No more explanantions needed.

I had found someone who represented me-finally.

By the way, my bangs were higher.

So my second thing you don't know about me is that I love boiled potatoes, smothered in butter, with cottage cheese on top of that, and then covered in black pepper.

How scrumptious do these look-YUM!

I am just dying to cover this blank white slate of cottage cheese with what else......

You guessed it.

That's right.

Black Pepper it is.

Now, my entire paternal side of my family eats this as a meal, but it wasn't until I got older that I realized no one else did this.

Well, that I was aware of anyways.

Do you do this or are we just odd ducks?

My family's Irish and I just assumed this was normal. We always had boiled dinners for every single family get together. Maybe the cottage cheese, with the overly shaken black pepper, gave the meal a kick of flavor-Who knows.

All I know is that when I get this craving it can't be satisfied by any thing else.

Bring on all of the, "Eeeeww Grosssss" comments.

I can take it.

Giggle

Giggle

The third thing would have to be that I am an organizational freak!

Freak, I say.

In order for me to function I absolutely have to have order.

This picture says it all.

Everything has it's place.

My fourth is one that I have debated and debated on writing about, even up until now, as I sit here typing it out.

Do I or don't I?

Will I say something politically incorrect??

I am going to try to say it as properly as I can.

I feel like there is a African American, Mama in me from one of my other lives.

I have thought this for a very long time.

I love those kinds of movies, with all African American casts, where the Big Mama is always the one with all of the wisdom, love, strength, and rock for everyone and their problems.

Always offering words of advice without casting judgement.

She lives in the great big house where different family members move in and out and everyone is always welcome.

Kind of a communal sort of living.

Normally, she's always, fixing big meals, having all her family around her, and full of laughter and tears.

She's as chubby and cuddly as can be and always smells delicious.

Her family recipes are recipes that no one else can get quite right, but her, and she knows it. She kind of enjoys that, because it makes her feel needed.

You can tell Mama anything and it's okay-no matter what it is.

I feel like I am Big Mama in a different life

or

Could I have possibly been an Amish Grandmother?

Nah, I like modern conveniences to much

Just a quick thought with the Amish thing-

The funny thing is.......

is that I'm a chubby Irish Catholic girl, but has had all of these situations in my life and loved every minute of it.

Here's my fifth weirdo confession.

I can't read Web MD, Mayo Clinic, or watch anything on t.v. that has to do with death, disease, or the cancer.

Yes, I know. I am a controlled hypochondriac.

I can't read up on anything medical, I won't read side affects on medicine bottles, and I have to flip the channel if any of the above is mentioned on television.

It saves my brain and I know this.

If I read it then I have it.

At least, I know my triggers and stay away from them .

Geez, I need help-

If their is an illness that you can only catch in the remote area's of the rain forest, that starts out with a little red dot on your nose, then by gosh I will find a little red dot on my nose and will be doomed and their will be no hope for me.

Yep, just that ridiculous!

I'm not to proud to share.

Number Six

I am paralyzed at the thought of a mouse in my house yet, I live in the middle of corn and bean fields central.

I used to be much worse than I am now.

The thought of a rodent in my clean home feasting on whatever it might feast on, scurrying across my floors, and the surprise element of seeing them almost paralyzes me.

Well, not almost paralyzes me. It does paralyze me

It's so ridiculous.

If they all looked like this I would be fine.

Here I'll show a sweet little image of a cute cartoon mouse, because I wont dare them give the glory of putting them on my blog

See if they all looked this adorable we might be able to be friends, but they don't look like this.

Here's my7th

I worked in corn and bean fields for a good portion of my youth in the summers.

I loved it!

I was either walking beans, which means cutting weeds out of bean fields by walking with a bean hook, or I was on a rig in the middle of a corn field detassling corn.

This isn't me. It's just an image I snagged off of google, but it gives you and idea of of what the rig looked like.

I was the worker for the first few years, but the driver the rest of the years.

We rode the rigs in our bikini's and got super tans.

We got our education, about boys and being ornery, in the corn fields

Wow, did I learn alot!

We smoked cigarettes because no one cared then.

We made a lot of money in the cornfields for school clothes.

No payed for education compared to the free education in the fields, at that time.

**********

Okay, so this "7 things" was kind of fun. It really made me do some brain excercises. I think I generally, tell it all anyways, but this really made me stop and be specific.

Hope the rest of your weekend is enjoyable.

Thank you, Angela! You seem to be the only person, without ever trying it, that hasn't wrinkled up their nose. It's quite delish.

Oh yeah!! I'm glad you did this! LOVED Lisa (cosby show) and wanted to BE HER! I'm surprised I didn't get my nose pierced in college, I REALLY wanted to be her!!
My Chinese daughter might be 1/2 Irish- she would eat boiled potatoes 3X/day with butter and salt!
Glad you participated, that was fun!! I'll link to ya!

chinamommy-I had a great time doing it and thank you for linking!

Your little girl, if she's even got a pinch of Irish in her, I totally understand her love of the boiled potatoes with salt and butter-It's definately an Irish thingy for sure-YUM!

She's such a cutie pie, by the way.

Happy Monday to ya:)
